Waiting: a private communication

Everyone finds themselves at some point waiting: waiting to begin again, waiting for the end, waiting for the right minute, waiting for word. Waiting does not necessarily mean killing time, rather, passing through time, often alone, yet it is dependent on an initial communication with an other.

This project examines that initial communication: first contact. Through the exploration of receptivity, clarity and expression, this project will illustrate both the ease and the difficulty that comes from acknowledging that we are not alone.

Incorporating the sculpture of Beth McCubbin, new choreography by Ryan Kerr, and the first dance performance by Amanda Mackey, Waiting was performed in mid September, 2011 as part of Artsweek.
