Fleshy Thud is a dance/movement based theatre collective operating in Peterborough, ON. Fleshy Thud’s mission is to create, produce and promote new experimental artistic works of excellence by regional artists living and working in Peterborough and its surrounding communities. Fleshy Thud believes in taking performance outside of traditional venues whenever possible, encouraging site specific works and portable productions that can be done anywhere at any time requiring a minimum of technical support.
Fleshy Thud was founded by Ryan Kerr in the summer of 2008 as an attempt to bring a number of independent local artists together under one collective. Over the past two years, Fleshy Thud has presented 6 productions in which 12 different performers were brought together in 13 new works and creating a number of new musical scores. Three of these new works were site specific (the steps of a church, an art gallery, a board walk beside a river) and two were created to be done anywhere at any time. In addition, Fleshy Thud has collaborated with firewirechannel to create a number of short films.
